Objective

To design a label that accurately represents the unique process behind the brand. The company was open to a rebrand centred around their Kombucha line that incorporates recycled glucose broken down from textile waste.

The Design

The graphic elements take that further, mirroring bacteria in petri dishes. The colour palette is informed by pop-art, largely because it jumps off the shelves and because it was the first instance of counter-culture as well as the growing accessibility of art.

This sentiment resonates with the target audience of artistically inclined, community oriented 25-50 year olds who echo characteristics of the '60s hippie subculture.

Objective

To ideate a mental health app. My chosen path diverged from the common mood tracking model, instead focusing on an app that spotlighted feel-good news stories in order to decrease feelings of hopelessness about the state of world affairs.

The Design

The colour palette is calming, while the graphic elements and brand language are in line with the theme of Good Cookie, which likens daily feel-good news stories to fortune cookies. The app offers different news stories from different categories, and a randomized daily cookie.

Along with the stories, there is also a community tab (under construction) which would allow users to post their own feel-good stories and explore others from individuals in their surrounding area.

Objective

To take an existing restaurant and rebrand it in accordance with the direction you choose to give it. I decided to revamp Bangkok Pad Thai so it felt more modern and timeless.

The Design

The logo consists of custom typography nested into an elephant, a time-honoured representative of Thai culture. In order to achieve a classic feel, the primary colours are an off-white, off-black, and an orange to act as a staple of the brand.

The iconography is very simple, sleek, and flat, aligning with modern standards. Both typefaces are sans-serif, which also work to add to the timeless appeal of the rebrand. Explore the styleguide here!

Objective

To translate an information-heavy PPT into a digital brochure with visual balance and updated branding. This asset was meant to be used in kick-off meetings with clients to introduce the company, its accomplishments, and its services.

The Design

The major challenge of this project was balancing the information, images, and white space in a way that pleased my supervisor and her supervisors. Consistent branding elements and content splitting were key to success. See the full brochure here!

Along with the brochure, one of the layouts I'm most proud of is the rebranded template for a specific company asset referred to as a factsheet. Two examples on the ATS website can be found here and here!

Objective

To redesign an existing book cover with a primary focus on typography.

The Design

My idea for this redesign began with a torn-up piece of paper showing the tagline of the book through a blackout poetry approach, using an important speech from the protagonist as the foundation. The title etched into the desk underneath conveys themes of rebellion.

Originally, this design was created entirely within Illustrator. Upon hitting a wall with the tone that set, I pivoted to photography and scans, relying heavily on manipulation in Photoshop to achieve the desired effect. I ended up with a product I'm really proud of.

Objective

To conceptualize a book cover that embodied its contents in both form and function.

The Design

This piece is largely conceptual. I figured a cheeky way to design the cover of a book that is teaching the reader how to be okay with looking 'stupid' was to force them to hold the book upside down while reading it.

Hence, the final design where the cover is quite literally reversed so the back cover is the front and vice versa. Anyone simply passing by would instantly be confused and amused, and the reader would have to be okay with that.

Objective

To illustrate a self-portrait entirely within Illustrator. The goal of this project was to experiment with the capabilities of the software when essentially just restricted to a mouse and the pen tool.

The Design

Drawing inspiration from the TV show, Arcane, I studied the style and decided what I wanted to emulate within my own illustration. Through a mix of shapes, gradients, gradient meshes, brush strokes, and lots of patience with my laptop's processing capacity, I built this piece.

This project was very much an exercise of patience. Learning to block shapes together and create forms through the slow progression of disjointed layers was an experience I definitely look back on to remind myself of the meandering nature of progress.
